When you say the word attitude to a pilot, the first thing that pops into their head is the aircraft relationship to the horizon.
While this attitude is important, even more important is the mind set that a pilot flies with. It’s important for pilots to recognize hazardous mental attitudes when they fly. Some have been drilled into our heads, get-home-itis is one that readily comes to mind where no matter the risk the pilot is driven to complete the flight.
The best attitude to adopt as a pilot is that of a professional pilot i.e., realizing your own limits and determining the risks involved and whether the pilot’s experience and skills can handle the risks. If in doubt, a professional attitude would say wait or weigh other alternatives.
